Air and Climate - IBEC

  • Author: Dr. Kelly

Dr. Kelly delivered the focal presentation at a recent Climate roundtable organised by IBEC. The presentation offered insights on the full spectrum of climate, air and energy related directives where Ireland faces challenges. Furthermore, the presentation offered clarity on the procedures regarding Directive infringements and the plausible range of penalties. A key message from the presentation was that the air related directives represent a serious challenge nationally, with comparable financial penalties to the climate arena. It is vital therefore that national strategy considers climate, air and energy policy in an integrated fashion. The GAINS Ireland model has the capacity to serve as a pivotal national modelling system in this process.
